Pottery Barn Baby Bassinets

Posted by admin on Wednesday Jul 14, 2010 Under kids furniture

A bassinet or bassinette is a bed specifically for babies from birth to about four months, and small enough to provide a “cocoon” that small babies find comforting. In some parts of the more developed world, such as Australia, a bassinet is also the term for a baby bouncing device used to relax a baby when it is going to sleep.

Koala baby clothing

Posted by admin on Wednesday Jul 14, 2010 Under kids clothes

The Koalais an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia, and the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae.

The koala is found in coastal regions of eastern and southern Australia, from near Adelaide to the southern part of Cape York Peninsula. Populations also extend for considerable distances inland in regions with enough moisture to support suitable woodlands. The koalas of South Australia were largely exterminated during the early part of the 20th century, but the state has since been repopulated with Victorian stock. The koala is not found in Tasmania or Western Australia.

Scary stories for kids

Bloody Mary

According to legend, Bloody Mary was an old witch who lived deep in the woods. One day, one of the girls in the nearby village disappeared. She was followed by a second girl, and then a third. Shortly thereafter, a villager up late with a toothache noticed one of the neighbor’s girls leaving the house in her nightclothes. She seemed to be in some kind of trance. The villager summoned his fellows, who followed the girl to a nearby field. There stood Blood Mary–now looking no older than 20–with a glowing wand in her left hand and a silver razor in her right. She had been taking the girls’ blood to restore her own youth. The villagers grabbed her and burned her at the stake, but as she died, she swore revenge. From that day forward, anyone who speaks her name three times into a mirror will summon her: she will slice them to ribbons with her razor and their souls will burn forever in the mirror.

The Silver Dollar

The Silver Dollar concerns a young couple on their way home, forced to seek shelter for the night. They come across a cottage with a lamp in the window, where a kindly old man and woman offer them food and a bed. The couple departs at the break of day without waking their hosts, but they leave a silver dollar on the kitchen table in payment. When they stop for lunch down the road, they tell the innkeeper about the nice old couple who had given them shelter. “That’s funny” the innkeeper says. “It sounds like the Browns, but they were killed in a fire years ago.” The couple insist that he is mistaken and take him back to the house. They find a charred dilapidated building, choked with weeds and covered in ash. But on the twisted remains of the kitchen table, they can still see their silver dollar.

Keter Baby Bath Seat

Posted by admin on Wednesday Jul 14, 2010 Under kids furniture

Bath time is a fun time in which baby and caregiver bond. It is also a time that can be potentially dangerous to your baby. Inattention to little details can spell tragedy in a few seconds. Taking a few precautions will ensure that bath time for your baby is an enjoyable time that does not turn into a heartbreaking situation.

1. Children can drown within seconds. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, “About two-thirds of drowning deaths (in children) in the home, not including swimming pools, occur in bathtubs.” Less than two inches of water are needed for a baby to drown. Never leave your baby alone, even if you think she is propped up properly. Create a checklist that you reference as you prepare for bath time. Have all materials needed for the bath within easy reach of your hands during the bath. Let the phone ring while you are bathing your baby. If you have to answer the door, take your baby with you.

2. Bath seats are seats that your baby can either sit or recline in while you bathe her. Never lift the bath seat while the baby is in it. Doing so may cause you to drop him. Check to see if the bottom of the tub is clean and has no remnants of residue before placing the bath seat in it. Test the suction cups and make sure they adhere to the tub before you place the baby in the bath seat. Do not leave your child alone, even if he is in a bath seat.

3. When the new baby  comes, the older brothers and sisters naturally want to be a part of every new activity with the baby. Taking a bath together can start a tradition that can last for years to come. Take care when allowing others to bathe your baby. Younger children should not be allowed to bathe the baby. Let them help you by handing the supplies you need for the bath. Teenagers can be permitted to bathe the baby under supervision. Bathe the baby before the baby-sitter comes for the evening. If you are uncomfortable with a relative bathing your baby, tell him that you prefer to take care of bath time yourself.
