Fashion World Today
Nowadays, there are more and more fashionable mothers. They are young, stylish and wealthy; they have received good education as well. When they have given birth to their babies, they also want to give them the best things that they could afford. So their babies will absolutely become chic babies. And there are some useful tips for choosing child clothes.
How To Choose Child Clothes
Buying clothes for infants and toddlers as well as older children isn’t always easy. If you are like me, finding the right size for your kid is pretty difficult especially if he or she is bigger or smaller than the average size. Finding the latest trends clothing for boys also can prove a little difficult as many mums will know. Many stores cater specifically for little girls or their collections tend to lean that way. Today kids have the option of dressing up in the latest trends from GAP, Burberry, Billabong, Cherry Tree, Ed Hardy, etc. These brands are no more exclusive to the grownups.
Clothes for boys should be made for free movement, as they are obviously more active. Shirts or tops that put a lot of pressure on the waist or chest could be very damaging to his respiration. Loose clothing not only gives more freedom of movement, but it also promotes muscular growth and activity.
The same principle should be used for girls’ clothing. After all, all children should be able to develop their motor skills equally, regardless of sex. However, if parents wish to dress their little girls in more feminine attire such as tights, and dresses, just be sure that the hosiery and the bodice of the dresses are not too tight.

Child modeling is often viewed as an important stepping stone to a successful adult career in the entertainment business. For example, popular actresses like Brooke Shields and Lindsay Lohan all started off as young models. Child modeling is pretty much a part-time job, for both the child and his or her parents, and it is not an easy field to break into. Some children are lucky enough to be discovered in public places. Natalie Portman was fortunate to be spotted by a talent agent in a New York pizza parlor when she was just eleven years old – she went into acting fairly soon afterward, but only after dabbling in modeling first. But you can’t expect that your child is going to be stumbled upon in a fast food restaurant by some powerful talent agent and become famous overnight.
Getting Ready
* Determining your child’s “look” and “type”
* The 7 categories of child actors
* A quiz to see if your child has the personality traits needed to succeed in this career
* Do you have what it takes to help your child succeed?
* What to look for in acting classes (and why your child may not need any acting training)
* Why the only photos you need to get signed with an agent are inexpensive snapshots of your child
* Taking snapshots that will attract an agent’s attention
Getting Hired
* How the hiring process works
* Where to find contact information for legitimate agents
* What do agents look for in a child actor?
* Typical questions your child will be asked in an interview with an agent (and how to prepare your child for the interview)
* How your child should dress for the interview
* What to include in your child’s resume
* What you need to know about promotional materials such as demo tapes and talent directories
* How to prepare your child for auditions by doing practice auditions at home
* Tips and techniques for auditioning
* Handling rejection
* The best way to keep in touch with agents, casting directors, and producers (it’s not telephone or email)
* Working with a manager
Kids Acting Experience
1. Look Locally For Beginning Acting Opportunities
Performing in theater is one of the best ways to learn. Kids can look for audition notices by checking out the websites of their local community theatres.
2. Acting Classes Will Grow Your Experience
Kids acting classes are a great way to improve your skills. They help your natural talent to grow.
3. Learn By Attending Theater
Watching other people perform, is a great way to increase your own kids acting skills.

Batman has been around for 70 years. It’s almost impossible to tell a story with the character that hasn’t been done in some way, shape, or form already. That’s precisely why Grant Morrison’s run on Batman has been such a breath of fresh air over the past few years. Morrison is a writer who always brings something new to the table, regardless of the project.
By the same token, Morrison tends to attract a sizable chunk of detractors who disapprove of his storytelling methods. So it was, and so it ever will be.
With Batman and Robin, Morrison continues to mine the Batman mythos for unexplored nuggets. It’s not enough that this series is the first to showcase the new Dynamic Duo of Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne. Morrison is pulling from a variety of strange and unusual sources this time, including the much loved and reviled ’60s show. Beyond nostalgia, I’m no real fan of the Adam West Batman, but this didn’t worry me. I’ve learned to place my faith in Morrison by now. The only aspect of this new project that worried me involved something the writer himself said in a recent interview.
He admitted that he was making a conscious attempt to make this new Bat book more accessible to new readers. It’s a noble goal considering there are probably going to be a healthy number of newcomers with this issue. All the same, that sounds a little too much like self-censorship to me. And when it comes to Morrison, self-censorship is like a four-letter word.

For many kids these days learning to read is a big challenge. Fortunately many problems can be prevented or resolved with early reading help. Too many parents do not act quickly enough to get their children the help that they need. The older a kid is the harder it is from them to learn how to read. For most kids the greatest potential for reading success comes in their early years. It is very hard for a child to catch up if they have not learned how to read by the end of third grade. From this point on kids can continue to fall farther behind and may end up feeling like they have failed.
Reading Benefits for Kids
The benefits of reading with your child — and we emphasize “with” — are seemingly endless. Obviously, their understanding and abilities increase, as well as their potential to learn.
1. Reading WITH your child teaches them that it is important, but even more, reading interactively with your child tells them that they are important to you.
2. Children learn best by seeing examples. It is not enough to tell your child to read. Children need to see adults reading (the newspaper, instructions, recipes, books, magazines, etc.) in order to understand how important it is. They DO need to know that reading can get them the information they need, but they also need to know it can take them into far-off places, exciting adventures, and lands full of imagination and wonder.
3. Reading should be fun as well as instructional. When children have been read to throughout their life they quickly develop a love for it. When that happens, they become “free-agents” to discover whatever they will through the seemingly infinite amount of written information available today.
4. Language and speech development: Reading to a child makes it easier for him/her to develop speech.
5. Preparing for school: Children are ready to go to school when they can attend or listen to what someone else is saying, learn and participate in structured situations such as story reading and focus in and listen to one central person in the classroom. Reading to a child is great way to prepare a pre-schooler for the school environment. On a higher level, children will get used to hearing stories and following sentences. This will be very helpful when they start to learn about grammar and sentence structure.
6. Reading Can Enhance Children’s Social Skills
Although reading is thought of as the quintessential solitary activity, in certain circumstances reading can be a socializing activity. For example, a parent or grandparent reading a story aloud, whether from a traditional printed book or from an ebook, can be a great opportunity for adult and child to share some quiet, relaxed quality time together away from the rush and stresses of the business of daily living. They share a few minutes of precious time, plus they share the ideas that are contained in the story. In addition, older children can be encouraged to read aloud to younger ones as a means of enhancing their relationship.

The nutritional guideline known as the food pyramid, and formally titled the Improved American Food Guide Pyramid, was published by the FDB in Denmark in 1978 and later adopted by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) in 1992 to replace the earlier food groups classification system. The food guide pyramid suggested optimal nutrition guidelines for each food category, per day, using a mnemonic graphic of a pyramid with horizontal dividing lines to represent suggested percentages of the daily diet for each food group.
Groups based on the Food Guide Pyramid
1. Grain Group foods
Grain Group foods give us carbohydrates (car-bo-hi-drate). Carbohydrates give us the energy we need to play, learn, sleep and keep our bodies running 24-7!
Grain Group Foods come from many different grain plants: wheat, oats, rye, barley and rice. “Whole-grains” like whole-wheat bread, also provide fiber and other substances that help keep us healthy. Fiber also helps us digest our food.
There are many foods to choose from in the Grain Group:
bread: white, wheat, rye, buns, rolls, muffins, bagels • cereals: hot and cold • rice: all kinds • pasta: spaghetti, macaroni, noodles • tortillas • crackers • pancakes
2. Vegetable Group
Is it easier for you to see in the dark or the daylight? For most people it’s easier in the daylight! Foods in the Vegetable Group give us vitamin A that helps us see in the dark. VitaminA also helps to keep our skin healthy.
Vegetables also provide:
* Vitamin C, which helps heal cuts and bruises and fight infections.
* Fiber, which helps us digest our food.
* Substances called “phytochemicals” (fight-o kem ick-kals) that help prevent diseases.
Some foods in the Vegetable Group are:
broccoli • cauliflower • corn • peas • green beans • lettuce • mushrooms • celery • carrots • white potatoes and sweet potatoes • juices made from vegetables: tomato juice, carrot juice
3. Fruit group
In terms of food (rather than botany), fruits are the sweet-tasting seed-bearing parts of plants, or occasionally sweet parts of plants which do not bear seeds. These include apples, oranges, plums, bananas, etc. Fruits are low in calories and fat and are a source of natural sugars, fiber and vitamins. Processing fruits when canning or making into juices unfortunately may add sugars and remove nutrients. The fruit food group is sometimes combined with the vegetable food group. Note that many foods considered fruits in botany because they bear seeds are not considered fruits in cuisine because they lack the characteristic sweet taste, e.g., tomatoes or avocados. It is best to consume 2-4 servings of fruit in a day. They may be fresh, frozen, canned, dried, pureed or juiced.
The Layers of the Pyramid – from the bottom up.
Every time we move we use up some of the kilojoules (or calories) that are in the food that we eat. The kilojoules that we do not use up in energy will be stored and changed to fat. ‘Move more’ reminds us that we need to balance the energy (kilojoules) that we take in with the energy we use. We eat daily so we need to be active daily.
Eat most
This base layer of foods includes only plant foods: vegetables, fruits, nuts, dried peas, beans and lentils, breads and cereals (preferably wholegrain). These foods contain many different nutrients and should make up most of the food that we eat. Eating a variety of these foods each day should provide good amounts of energy from carbohydrate, as well as protein, minerals, vitamins and dietary fibre. In other words these foods are nutrient dense (each food contains a lot of nutrients for each kilojoule that it provides).
Alongside the base is the symbol for water to encourage water consumption. 6-8 glasses each day is the recommendation. Smaller children need about 4-5 glasses of water.
Eat moderately
Foods in the middle of the Pyramid include fish, lean meat, eggs, chicken (no skin), milk, cheese and yoghurt. Eating a serving of meat, fish or eggs and three of dairy foods each day will provide protein, minerals (especially iron and calcium) and B vitamins.
Eat in small amounts
Sugars and fats are in this layer. These foods should be limited because they lack a good supply of the nutrients needed for growth, good health and quick energy. While small amounts of fats, oils and sugar are acceptable, larger amounts of these foods will cause an inadequately varied food intake. When choosing fats and oils it is better to choose the ones that have low levels of saturated fat and better levels of omega -3 fats. The Pyramid also suggests that salt should not be added to foods. By choosing a wide variety of foods the Healthy Living Pyramid (HLP) way we should consume all the nutrients and other food compounds that we need for good health. When we serve a meal the ‘Eat most’ foods should take up most of the plate, the ‘Eat moderately’ foods should take up a third or less of the plate, and there should be very little of the ‘Eat in small amounts’ foods. The HLP does not state how many serves we should have or the size of the serves but it does give an idea about the balance of foods we need to choose for good health. In order to maintain body weight, food eaten (energy in) needs to be balanced with physical activity (energy out).

One of the most complicated things about purchasing kids clothes is finding the right size and style that would suit them. Unless parents are aware of their kids’ choices they won’t be able to find the right set of clothes.
From http://www.the-parenting-magazine.com
Purchasing clothes for your kids is challenging as well as exciting. You need to keep a lot of things in mind when you are making your purchases. If you do not consider these factors then you may regret your decision later. While choosing kids clothes you need to ensure that they look nice and stay comfortable as well.
Tips on Choosing Kid’s Clothes (How to pick it)
1. When buying children’s clothes, the first thing to remember is that they must be easy to put on, easily washable and above everything else, comfortable to wear.
2. It is always advisable to buy trousers or skirts with elasticized waistbands and shoulder straps, for a baby.
3. Prefer buying clothes that can be stretched and have a wide neck, because they are easier to wear as well as take off.
4. Avoid buying clothes that are adorned by lace, as babies can get their fingers caught in the lace.
5. Whether it is a shirt, pant or a dress it is always advisable that you go for bright colored clothes with designs and motifs on it. You can go for either stripes or checks if your kid is not fond of one colored clothes. There are various e-commerce sites from where one can make their purchases. The online stores offer clothes which have great color combination and stylish cuts. These clothes are designed to cater to the needs and requirements of today’s fashion conscious children.
6. Buy ahead, and don’t buy anything full-price. The major chain stores have regular 20% discounts now, so hold off before buying new season clothes at Kmart or Myer. You can take advantage of major sales and buy at 30-60% off if you buy ahead for the next season. You need to understand the sizing of the clothes you are buying, and also be able to estimate how big your child will be in a year’s time. Looking at growth charts can be helpful. If you keep the items with tags on you can put them on Ebay or give them to someone else if they don’t fit. Keep an eye out for socks and underwear on special too.
7. Have an incoming and outgoing system. It’s useful to have a particular drawer or bag for “incoming” clothes that are the next size up or the next season, that you may have bought or been given. Keep them accessible enough to review every month or so as your kids grow or the weather changes. That way you will get maximum wear out of the clothes you do have. Similarly, don’t crowd the drawers with things that are too small or worn – keep another bag at hand to gather the outgrown things as they come out of the wash. Then you can put them away for the next bub, sell, donate or ditch them as you need to. Do this often too, every couple of months.
8. Avoid clothes that have ties attached to them, as the ties can come off easily and you will have to sew them on again.
9. Clothes for boys should be made for free movement, as they are obviously more active. Shirts or tops that put a lot of pressure on the waist or chest could be very damaging to his respiration. Loose clothing not only gives more freedom of movement, but it also promotes muscular growth and activity.
