9 x 12 Area Rugs

9 x 12 Area Rugs

The contribution of 9×12 area rugs (or larger) to a room’s decor is something that cannot be overlooked. Large area rugs can be works of art, tie in all design elements in a room and add in missing functionality as well as protection to hardwood floors. If you are looking to purchase an area rug then you know that it’s very easy to become overwhelmed looking at thousands of rugs from hundreds of web sites and unless you are a rug collector than you probably want to find something that makes sense for your home but won’t clean out your savings.

If you love home decorating projects you might be looking for a nice 9×12 rug for your room. A 9×12 area rug is a good size rug for a family room that doesn’t have carpeting. Area rugs are the perfect accessory to create a complete room theme in decorating. If you have a room with pastel blue walls adding a room size rug that has blue and creams in its color scheme will add design to the room. You can further enhance that design by adding accents in shades of blue and cream.

A 9×12 rug is also a great rug for use in a basement area. You might have an area that you fixed up by adding some wood panels to the wall, but still have the cold bare concrete as the flooring. Adding a large room size area rug not only creates the illusion of the basement actually having a room, but it also protects against the cold of the concrete floor. A high quality deep shag rug would be the perfect rug for a basement because it is thick enough to provide cushion against the hard concrete underneath.

9 x 12 area rugs fit in almost all rooms of houses and they can be lifted from the floor and cleaned thoroughly without trapping any irritant inside of them. Another major comparison between the carpets and area rugs is the cost. Go to the cheapest shop and bag the biggest discount on a carpet, still it comes out to be a lot more expensive than the rug you buy for yourself. Also with the amount of money you invest in the carpets, you need to retain them and maintain them over the years. But buy any rug, and if you get bored with it? Buy another! Yes there is another advantage- you can change them in accordance with the colour moods. Someday you may feel- go green! Get a green rug, and for that children’s party at your place- red and blue would look amazing!

When buying a chenille 9 x 12 area rug it is essential to contemplate and decide on the leading purpose of the rug in relation to the interior space wherein it’s going to be put. You might like to generate a colorful or textural differentiation between two areas of a big living space. Rugs are perfect for this and can produce a feeling of compartmentalization to a big space with no need to infringe on the complete perspective.

Another function for a 9 x 12 area rug made from chenille is to call attention to a coffee table or similar piece of furniture. Positioned underneath the table, the area rug will help make the furniture item stand out and provide it a kind of border, rather like with a wall painting. Visual separation without necessity for barriers is an integral function and benefit of an area rug of any length and width, color, shape and material.

So, all in all, rugs are a perfect choice if monotony, huge prices and allergens scare you. Easy cleaning ensures that the allergens are kept at bay and cheap prices ensure that you can always have a new rug to change the look and the feel of your home. Also your room may be very massive, but a 9 x 12 rug will fit in almost all rooms. These are not merely rugs on the floor, they add to the look of the complete decor and art. Rugs are available in various colours and patterns to add to the look of the room. Area rugs are indeed a more appropriate choice than the carpets for the above mentioned reasons and another major reason- convenience to you. Area rugs are indeed preferred then the carpets.

9×12 area rugs are indeed viable options that deliver 101% satisfaction for you and beauty for your home. These are indispensable home features which gives your house a refreshing and sophisticated new look that unquestioningly makes financial sense.

One breakthrough in the rugs industry is the proliferation of discount area rugs which made it available for those even with tight and limited budgets. Gone are the days when homes of the affluent and rich are the only ones who could afford to beautify their homes with this classic home addition. Now you could choose round rugs and other shape variations with high quality materials and intricate designs and patterns which are undeniably within your reach.

Shopping for rugs is made easy, convenient and foolproof because you can now avail rugs according to their categories. Shop the best home feature for your wall decors or floor covers according to pattern, design, materials used for manufacture, color, shape and size among others. You could also find hand knotted rugs which perfectly match the theme and style of your home or room to highlight its focal and selling points.

With the best 9×12 area rugs to choose and use in your house, everything you need is right here for the picking. It is definitely a guarantee for boosting the market value as well as the decorative essence of your investment.

Braided Area Rug

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 31, 2011 Under kids area rugs

Braided Area Rug

A good rug lasts for a long time and requires least maintenance. Another most typical trait of these rugs is that their vast assortments of shapes are formed by putting different braiding styles to work. These rugs can be best purchased online, given the vast choice available, offering acute flexibility to the buyer. Online shopping can help you buy classic rugs which can be found in a variety of weaves, shades, dimensions, and shapes.

The easiest and the cheapest way is to go through your old clothing first and save back all of the knitted and jersey articles to use for your rug. These types of fabrics do not “shred” when scissored and also tend to have a “give” to the fabric that allows for easy braiding.

The first step is to cut all of the fabric into one and a half inch wide strips. Pick out the three strips you want for the first “braiding strip” and pin them together at the top with a large safety pin. (It doesn’t matter if they are of different lengths.) Then just begin to braid. You may want to tie the beginning braid to the back of a chair or some other sort of anchor to start with but you don’t have to. Once you have gotten to within three inches of the end of any of the strips you are braiding, simply add in a new strip by placing it neatly inside of the remaining piece, rolling the two pieces together, and simply continuing on the braid. Note: the “end” of the rug braid is NOT DONE yet, simply use a safety pin at the end of the braid you are working on and leave the braiding strips hanging out so that you can continue the rug to the size you are wanting.

Choose a braided area rug from the fibers you like best in your home. Braided area rugs add a very homey, country-like touch to a room. Plus, braided area rugs are easy to keep clean, you can easily change their place in any room, and they come in a wide variety of colors to match any decor.

Years ago braided rugs were mostly made by hand from rags and scraps; an economical way for country women to decorate and warm their home while making use of scraps to the last thread. Today braided rugs are more often purchased and machine made. They still offer the homespun feel and ease of use that old fashioned hand made rugs always offered.

Selection of Braided Rugs Available Online

With fond memories of old farm houses and simple city homes alike, a braided rug means “Home Sweet Home” to country and city residents alike. You’ll find a delightful online selection without having to braid your own rugs today.

Braided rugs are area rugs created from braids of fabric or yarn which are coiled and sewn together. The origin of braided rugs can be traced to the early 1700’s in New England. Braided rugs often thought of as country rugs spread across the U.S. as settlers moved west. These rugs lend themselves perfectly to country rugs as they draw on the beauty of 18th and 19th century designs. Today’s braided area rugs offer a dazzling array of color and design options. Home decorators are discovering the versatility of these uniquely styled rugs which combine the craftsmanship of traditional rugs with the latest trends in home fashion.

After you have braided a piece that is around six to eight feet in length, you will want to decide whether you want a round rug or an oval rug. The only equipment you need for this step is a large five or six inch long straight “doll” needle (this has a slightly “duller” point and is a sturdy non bendable needle) and waxed beading cord. Simply take the long braided piece and lay it around into a circle or an oval shape and sew this braid together by taking each of the inside loops and weaving your beading cord in and out of the loops. Pull each loop together snugly and shape the rug as you go. It is easier to start this first part of the rug by laying it out onto a large table top to begin stitching the braiding around itself, once you build it up a bit, you no longer need to use the table. Just sit with it in your lap and you can work on it.

Braided rugs can be made from almost any materials. Today’s country rugs are mostly made of wool, cotton or nylon. Many machine made rugs are very inexpensive and are available at price points nearing those of discount rugs. These truly gorgeous discount rugs are also available in a wide variety of colors, shapes and designs. Among the most popular shape is the round area rug. The braided round area rug is often available at prices similar to discount rugs. There is a richness, however, that is associated with these country rugs, in the round area rug shape, that makes them exceptionally appealing.

Another construction similar to braided rugs is hook rugs. First produced in the eighteenth century, traditional hooking employs the use of a hand hook similar in shape to a crochet hook in order to produce a loop pile. Today’s hook rugs are generally made from 100% wool and are carefully dyed to assure your hook rugs will last for many generations. The styling of hook rugs crosses all design boundaries, however, many reflect floral and Aubusson designs. Hook rugs are exceptionally well priced and will add optimum color and design to any home.

All you do to complete your rug is continue to braid your continuous braid and continue to stitch it around itself until you get to the desire size and shape. At the end, sew your last pieces of the braid back into the rug individually with your waxed beading cord for about 10 inches. You will be proud of the colorful area rug and of the work you yourself have put into it, and best of all, you haven’t spent anything and yet you have a easy to wash area rug!

J. C. Penney Company, Inc. is one of America’s leading retailers, operates over 1,100 department stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as one of the largest apparel and home furnishing sites on the Internet, jcp.com. Serving more than half of America’s families each year, the jcpenney brand offers a wide array of private, exclusive and national brands which reflect the Company’s vision to be America’s shopping destination for discovering great styles at compelling prices. Traded as “JCP” on the New York Stock Exchange, the $17.8 billion retailer is transforming its organization to support its Long Range Plan strategies to build a sustainable, profitable enterprise that serves its customers, engages it associates and rewards its shareholders.

jcpenney’s vision for growth is to be America’s shopping destination for discovering great styles at compelling prices. Currently, jcpenney does business with over half of the households in America each year. We’re focused on getting those customers to spend more with us, while also finding ways to engage the other half to experience our great style and quality at smart prices. To do this, we are focused on a Long-Range Plan consisting of four integrated business strategies intended to drive profitable sales growth, enhance our financial performance and achieve industry leadership:

Modern jcpenney stores are a far cry from the small dry-goods store that James Cash Penney opened in Kemmerer, Wyoming in 1902. In those days, frontier miners and farmers and their families turned to jcpenney for blue jeans and other work clothes, shoes, fabrics and sewing needs. Today, busy working families turn to jcpenney in cities, towns and suburbs and to jcp.com for affordable fashions and home accessories.

Originally, Mr. Penney called his stores the Golden Rule because it was his personal and business philosophy to treat others the way he himself would want to be treated. In 1913, his growing chain of stores incorporated in Utah as the J. C. Penney Company, Inc. and the Golden Rule name was phased out. In 1914, the Company moved its headquarters from Salt Lake City to New York City to be closer to its major sources of merchandise. Since 1992, the Company has been headquartered in Plano, Texas.

As jcpenney grew, it became “A Nationwide Institution,” as one of its early logos proclaimed. At one time, more than 2,000 jcpenney stores dotted Main Streets and downtown shopping districts across America. After World War II, the Company followed its customers into the new suburbs, and later into regional shopping malls. The jcpenney catalog debuted in 1963, and in 1994, the forerunner of today’s jcp.com began offering merchandise via the Internet.

jcpenney’s commitment to serving its customers with style, quality and smart prices has led the Company through many transformations over the years as society and shopping habits change. Furthermore, through more than 100 years of history, the Company has stayed true to its Golden Rule beginnings, with a continued commitment to care for the communities where it does business in and operate in an ethical and responsible manner. Today these commitments live on in the Company’s dedication to make “Every Day Matters” for all its stakeholders.

Customers: Become America’s favorite retail destination for apparel, accessories and home fashion.

* Refine marketing and messaging to improve jcpenney’s image positioning.

Kids cartoons from the 80’s to 90’s

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 31, 2011 Under kids cartoons

Remember when your parents used to tell that your childhood are the best days of your life?

First of all, why did they do that? Were they just jealous? What did they think you would do with that information? What are you supposed to say to that?

Secondly, as much as it hurts to admit it, they were right.

Sure, being an adult has its advantages, right? You couldn’t drive a car, get drunk (legally) or have sex (again legally) when you were a kid.

Relive your memories by watching and listening to these snippets of 80s cartoons theme songs and opening credits of popular cartoons. There are also some 80s cartoon episodes to watch. More 80’s cartoons will be added a little at a time.

The series was an immediate hit in the United States, topping the syndication market for children’s programs in the mid-1980s. Kids cartoons from the 90s UK

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 31, 2011 Under kids cartoons

Do you ever think back to your childhood? About what the simple things in your life were back then. Well you may do sometimes, and it wasn’t until the other day while watching a kids cartoon on TV with your younger sister or brother that you realized how genuine and likable the cartoons were when you were a kid watched was the best.

The 90’s were a golden age of cartoons. We had a blast putting together the 20 best, and we’re sure this list will inspire some discussion were still eligible.

Kids cartoons from the 90s UK

1. Darkwing Duck

Production Period: 1991-1995

This Disney smash followed Drake Ballard and his alter-ego, Darkwing Duck. Darkwing and his adopted daughter, Gosalyn Mallard resided in the town of St. Canard and used their powers to perform good acts all over their town. Darkwing Duck was a spin off of the Disney Series Duck Tales.

2. Animaniacs

Production Period: 1993-1998

Animaniacs was presented by Steven Spielberg and was the second highest rated cartoon in the 2–11 and children ages 6–11 demographics. The storyline followed The Warners, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, three cartoon stars from the 1930s that were locked away in the Warner Bros. water tower until the 1990s. Upon their escape, they often interacted with some of the human characters working at the studio. The Animanics took home several awards, including multiple Daytime Emmy Awards. It also comes in at #17 on the All-Time Best Cartoon Lists.

3. King of the Hill

Production Period: 1997-2009

King of the Hill follows the Hills, a Methodist family from Texas, and their mundane, everyday sort of life. Since it’s creation in 97, King of the Hill has been nominated for 7 Emmy’s with 2 wins, and was even named one of Time Magazines Top 100 Television shows of all times. ‘Hill’ was recently canceled to make way for ‘The Cleveland Show’ (a Family Guy spin off), but the show finishes as one of the longest running prime time animated shows of all time.

4. Ren and Stimpy

Production Period: 1991-1996, later 2003

This series follows the duo of the neurotic asthma hound Chihuahua Ren, and simple minded Manx cat Stimpy as they get caught in nonsensical adventures. The show’s violence and scatological humor, along with slow production times, led original creator John Kricfalusi to be fired in 1992. Games Animation took over in 1993 with a “lighter, gut funny type of show” instead of “truly frightening” episodes. In 2003 Kricfalusi re-launched the series as Rend and Stimpy “Adult Party Cartoon” on Spike-TV. This new version explored more adult themes, including a more explicitly homosexual relationship between the two main characters, and produced only 3 of 9 promised episodes before being removed.

5. X-Men

Production Period: 1992-1997

Staring the original early 90’s comic cast drawn my Jim Lee, the cartoons follows the same story line as the comics. Along with loosely reproducing famous story lines and plots of the original series, it also created episodes that dealt openly with mature social issues, though mostly in subtext. This is one of the longest lasting shows on Fox Kids running 5 seasons and 76 episodes, second only to Batman, and is also one of Americas most viewed and highest rated morning programs in history.

6. Rocko’s Modern Life

Production Period: 1993-1996

Following the wallaby Rocko, and his surreal life in the city of O-Town, the cartoon was laced with double entendres, sexual innuendo, and written by a guy who had little to no experience with cartoons or kids. The shows success mostly came from the fact that it was aimed at kids and their parents, and every story was “funny” and “strong”. The animation was very unique, with no parallel lines, hand painted backgrounds, odd colors, and oddly shaped anthropomorphic animal characters. The original writer and creator Joe Murray could no longer continue the constant work and handed the show off to someone else after the 3rd season, but still reviewed every episode.

7. The Tick

Production Period: 1994-1996

The Tick is one of the animated series that didn’t run for very long, but reached cult status quickly. The Tick focused on a super hero who was well known for his “Spooooooon!” battle cry and his skin-tight blue suit. This satirical take on the super hero craze is considered one of the best animated series of all time, even though it only ran for 36 episodes.

Before you start your search for affordable area rugs, it will be helpful to take time out to do a little research. You’ll need to decide which areas of the home would be ideal for such rugs; whether small or large area rugs would fit those spaces well; which colors, shapes (square or round area rugs?) and designs would go well with the décor around such areas; and what rug fiber material would be appropriate for the kind of actual usage and foot traffic those areas will experience.

Discover the information on various types of area rugs such as contemporary area rugs, round area rugs, modern area rugs, wool area rugs and its cleaning process, oriental area rugs, tropical area rugs, square area rugs, kitchen area rugs, decorative area rugs, designer area rugs, animal print area rugs and seagrass area rugs. How do you select area rugs?

1. Color: The color really is a matter of personal preference. Pick your rug first before you choose fabrics. It is easier to find fabrics, wallpapers, and paint that will go with your rug than finding a carpet that will go with your fabrics, wall coverings and finishes. Professional designers usually start with the area rugs. One way to select your carpet for a furnished room is to find a color combination that will tie all of the colors together. Fabrics, wallpapers, draperies, wall color, and floor color and type are important considerations. Another way is to pick one major existing contrasting color that will set off the others. Another possibility is to select the colors of a favorite flower, picture, or fabric. Look through magazines that have rooms pictured and you will get some ideas of what can be done. It is relatively easy to copy a color combination. Visiting a fabric store and find a fabric that appeals to you, then build your color scheme around it.

2. Design: All area rugs can be divided into three major designs: all over patterns with and without a central medallion, asymmetrical patterns. Complicated patterns or less busy designs. Border types and solid colored carved ones. Will it have flowers? Will it be traditional, contemporary, Country French, abstract, southwestern, or tribal? Pretty much, anything you can imagine is available as floor covering.

3. Size: The space that you want covered is more important than the size of the room. Measure the space with a tape measure. Place four pieces of paper where the corners will be and you get a visual impression of the area. Should the furniture be on the entire rug or all off the rug? This is a matter of opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. Sometimes the furniture is partly on and partly off. You may have to compromise because the area rugs you select may be available in a limited number of sizes and shapes. The correct size for a dining room table and chairs is found by getting up from the chairs on both ends and sides of the table leaving the chairs out. Then measuring a few inches past the spot where the back legs of the chairs are. The rugs should be large enough so that the chairs back legs stay on the rug.
