There are some certain signs that your kids have grown up with you blogging when they say things like:
“This looks good mum, you should take a photo and put it on your blog.”
Which is what my preschooler said to me a couple of weeks ago about our traffic light sandwiches. Mums who have watched Play School over the years (Australian children’s TV show) will be very familiar with these sandwiches. Scroll down a bit further if you want to see how to make the sandwiches and our menu plan for the week, other wise read on to hear about my love of Play School .
As you may have noticed on the blog, I am not a big TV fan for youngsters, but I really do love Play School. Not only is it a fab show but the back up resources they have, including ideas for later that you can do with your kids at home are fantastic.
Many experts offered their own tips to entice children to eat Veggie. Funky Lunch show you how to make breakfast sandwiches and how to incorporate new foods into your Childs meal by distracting them from what they actually eat

Summer vacation, it always goes by too fast. Yet there is excitement in the air. Your child is in a new grade and settling in with his new teacher. You’ve connected with families you haven’t seen over the summer and your child is happy to see old friends. You’ve noted the date of back-to-school night in your calendar and you have begun to review the list for volunteer activities. Suddenly it hits you – that one word which you had forgotten about since the end of the last school year: LUNCH!
You want to pack nutritious lunches for your kids but you know it isn’t going to be easy. You want to provide healthy sandwiches or at least a quick and balanced meal that your kids will actually eat. You’ve been here before and recall some of the frustrations. Either you pay for the cafeteria lunch and hear about the awful food, or you discover your daughter hasn’t even taken a bite of her lunchbox sandwich and had only one bite of her apple. This is one reason some parents opt for pre-packed lunches that can contain too much fat and sodium. Or maybe you toss in a bag of potato chips – because it feels better knowing your son got something into his tummy. Oh yes, getting your child to eat a nutritious lunch can seem like a battle. But does it have to be? Really? With some easy, quick lunch ideas you can get your child eating a nutritious meal without all the headaches!

Team Building Games for Kids and Teens
fun group games for kids1
Group games are a great way for kids to get to know each other and begin the process of learning how to work together in a fun, non-threatening way. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Tell Three Things
Each person writes down three things about himself: two of which are true and one of which is a lie. After everyone has finished making this or her list, students take turns reading their lists aloud and asking other students to guess which one is the “lie”. Students can answer either individually or in a “raise your hand if you agree” format. Students can also be asked to justify their guesses if time allows. Whether groups are just getting to know one another or have been together a long time, they can still learn things about each other from this activity.
About Group Games
Who We Are
Welcome to Group-Games.com! This site is run by two self-proclaimed game-lovers, Joe and John. We pride ourselves in bringing you instructions for the best, most fun group games and activities. This website is completely free.
Why Does This Website Exist?
I’ve always enjoyed a group game — they’re interactive, social, provide good memories, and can be a bonding experience for old friends and new acquaintances alike. As one of the college group leaders of my church, I’ve seen the value of games first-hand. Games and play have always been an important part of any culture, and I would argue that they can make a real difference when used properly in a variety of settings: classrooms, camps, churches, youth and college groups, clubs, conferences, even companies. Whether it’s an icebreaker used to engage an audience and make them more comfortable, a team-building activity to promote trust and teamwork, or just a game with friends at a party or informal gathering, group games are important (and fun!)
We thought it would be neat to have a well organized, indexed collection of great games as a useful reference for game-lovers or for teachers, managers, camp counselors, emcees for group meetings, church workers, and so on. As game lovers, this is our way of learning new games and sharing them with others.
We Welcome Your Submissions!
We love good group games — especially the ones that are meaningful, innovative, or that can help people get to know each other better. If you have any games, submit them to stakis (at) group-games.com. We’re adding new games regularly (every few days), so please share them with us!

Party Places for Kids
Are you looking for a great place to have a party for your child in the Fox Cities? Whether you are looking for something a little different, to pizza and play, we have it all here in the Valley.
Los Angeles Toddler+Kid Birthday Party Ideas (lots of Santa Monica)
My favorite children’s birthday parties are the ones where kids are just invited to get together and share each others’ company over some food music and silly fun. Maybe the parents come up with a simple, original creative game, an eccentric relative starts a sing-along and there’s some kind of brilliant craft using organic, biodegradable materials.
But back in reality, we don’t always have time to get creative and we definitely don’t have space in our homes to host an entire class or two of kids. Our kids have December Birthdays, and, while we’d be happy with a party in the park, we chicken out for fear of bad weather.
So we’ve pulled together a little list of fun places to have kids birthdays.
Your Kid’s Party & Playtime Headquarters
Our parties are full of bouncing, sliding, and jumping fun for kids 12 years-old and younger. You can sit back, relax and enjoy the party while we do all the set-up and clean-up. We offer a variety of party packages.
Bring your kids to Monkey Joe’s fun-filled inflatable play center! Our wall-to-wall inflatable slides, jumps, and obstacle courses will keep your kids active, happy, and healthy. Our play center is suitable for kids 12 years-old and younger. Our Mini Monkey Zone is a separate toddler play area that will keep your little ones safe and secure.
A Fun, Safe, and Active Environment
fun party places for kids3
Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for your kids is our top priority. In order to eliminate up to 99.9 percent of most common germs, we sanitize all inflatable surfaces with Swisher Hygiene. We also have separate play areas for kids 2-12 years-old and kids 3 years-old and younger. Although both areas are supervised by our trained staff to ensure your kid’s safety, we strongly encourage parents to monitor their children during play.

Party Ideas – Have a Theme Party at one of these Birthday Party Places
Use one of these birthday places when you can’t have the party at home!
fun party places for kids2
For many of us, holding a child’s birthday party at home is a daunting task. That’s why many businesses aimed at children have also become birthday places. Each party place will have birthday ideas and a pre-planned theme party package. Here is a partial list of kids party places that can be used to hold a child’s birthday party.
My children have been to many fun, successful parties that were held at some of these birthday places. From our local nature center to McDonald’s and Chuck E. Cheese, to gymnastic schools and laser tag, my kids have been to really good parties that took the pressure off of the parents.
Call the birthday party places nearest you to ask about prices, facilities, and whether they require a minimum number of guests. Some party places will let you bring in your own food and birthday cakes, while others require that all food be purchased from them. Be sure to ask about all the rules before you book a party at any of these birthday locations.
Use the link on the right to browse local venues in your area suitable for children’s parties.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game
If your child’s birthday falls during the warmer months, a local ball park might be the perfect location for a kid’s birthday party. If your child is crazy about a particular team, try to get tickets to one of their games. Although most parks don’t allow you to bring outside food into the facility, there are usually lots of yummy treats to choose from at the park. You can pass out goody bags filled with things relating to the sport and team of choice
Hosting a birthday party at Pump It Up is great for parents and kids alike.
We offer everything you need for a fun time:
Private indoor arenas, filled with gigantic inflatable slides, bounce houses, obstacle courses and more. Organization: KidsCom (commercial site with advertisements)
educational sites for children1
This site has promise. An easy-to-understand graphical interface leads children from one area to the next. The games are fairly simple but fun for younger children (one even teaches Internet safety). Every week the site holds a writing contest in which children write stories about things like a “a bear who lives in Canada and wears a hat.” While advertisements are sprinkled through the sites, they are clearly marked with a cute little bug so that children know it is a commercial. On the negative side, advertisements pop up that take over the entire screen and some questionnaires can ask detailed questions (remind your children of Net Rule #1). Also, the languages options, Spanish, Dutch, and French, were just vaporware – software that does not exist or work as advertised – at the time this site was reviewed.

Top Ten Educational Websites for the Homeschool Family
educational sites for children4
Many families are starting to elect the educational choice of homeschooling for their children. There are a number of reasons why this educational choice is becoming a trend. The most popular reasons include religious beliefs, dissatisfaction with the school system, and personal family values. Regardless of the reason a family chooses to homeschool, it is important for these individuals to have a host of educational resources available to them. The internet is loaded with excellent educational material. Here is our first annual, More4kids, list of Top 10 Educational websites. While numbered from 1 to 10, they are in no particular order and each one is worthy of being a number 1 in our opinion. Enjoy, and feel free to leave comments at the bottom of this page with your favorites.
My family spends every spring break vacation in New York City. It’s the best! My children were born there, and it’s a fun home away from home for us. Spring Break in NYC sure doesn’t have the connotations of Florida and the Caribbean – no drunk girls in bikinis or frat boys behaving badly – and since I’m so comfortable in NYC, I see it as a completely family-friendly place to travel. Every time my kids come to New York City, they have a few fun things they want to do. These are some of the best things to do in NYC with children.
100 Things to Do in NYC with Kids Before They Grow Up
This year I want to focus on spending more meaningful time with my children and do more to take advantage of all the amazing things to do in New York City with kids. To that end, I have created what I call a Life List for Raising NYC Kids. A life list is a list of things you want to achieve in your lifetime. This life list is all the things I hope to experience with my kids in New York before they grow up. Not just the stuff that is fun to do, but the stuff that I think will be important to do with them. The things that will shape them and be formative in their experience as little New Yorkers. The things that they will remember as adults and cherish as part of the cool experience of growing up in New York. Now, off I go to wring every drop of goodness from that damp, dirty rag that is New York City… Life List for NYC Kids (or 100 things to do with your kids before they grow up).
Top Brooklyn Experiences with Kids
fun stuff for kids in nyc1
1. Take the subway all the way to Coney Island, where you can catch some minor league baseball, build sandcastles on the beach, test your fearlessness on the famous Cyclone roller coaster, and eat the hot dogs that made Nathan’s a New York legend.
2. Enjoy a lazy day at Prospect Park pedal boating or birdwatching, or simply kicking back and playing catch on the gorgeous grounds.
3. Board the New York Water Taxi from Manhattan to DUMBO’s Fulton Ferry Landing for a taste of everything Brooklyn: ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, fabulous pizza at Grimaldi’s, and chocolate from Jacques Torres. Work off those calories playing in the wonderful new waterfront parks.
4. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn to get an entirely different perspective of the experience of the NYC skyline rising up to greet you.
5. Crawl around in the Discovery Garden at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and cool off by the “dancing” fountain at the nearby Brooklyn Museum.
Traveling with Your Kids in New York City
Planning a family vacation to New York City? New York City is full of activities that are fun for parents and children travelling together. These articles and links will make your family vacation to New York City a success.
Taking the Kids: Three Days in New York
fun stuff for kids in nyc2
In a city that has something for everyone, it’s no surprise that there are so many things for the whole family to enjoy together in New York City — in part perhaps because kids consider it a giant playground filled with the latest toys. You’ll find plenty to keep them entertained … and in the process, you’ll find yourselves having a pretty rousing good time, too.
And by the way, visiting here with little ones is made even easier by some of the top museums and attractions — because not only do they allow strollers, some even provide them.
Home Away From Home
We suggest a stay at Embassy Suites, downtown in the Financial District. It’s well-priced, but the major draws are the in-suite kitchen for quick snacks and late-night requests for just one more glass of juice; the complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast served downstairs, which means you’re not shelling out a gazillion dollars for breakfast every day; and two TV’s to help keep those “what to watch” arguments to a minimum
Kids can have fun preparing quick snacks with a little help from adults. They can be creative with vegetables and dips to make healthy snacks, or they can make frozen snacks that are sweet and fruity. Children can spend a few minutes or a couple of hours gathering ingredients and preparing their snacks, depending on the recipe. Your child will be proud of his snack creation, especially if he has made enough for family members to enjoy.
Fun Fruit Kabobs
Fun fruit kabobs take 15 minutes to prepare. Your child will need an adult’s help to slice the fruit. The recipe calls for an apple and a banana, 1/3 cup of red seedless grapes, 1/3 cup of green seedless grapes, 2/3 cup of pineapple chunks, one cup of nonfat yogurt and 1/4 cup of dried, shredded coconut. You will also need a knife, four wooden skewers and two large plates. Spread the coconut on one plate and the yogurt on the other. Wash and peel the fruit and, after cutting the apples and bananas into chunks, slide the different fruit on to a skewer until the stick is covered. Roll the kabob in the yogurt and then in the coconut.

Healthy Snacks for Kids
When it’s not yet mealtime and little tummies are grumbling, try some of these healthy snacks for kids. They’ll love the taste of these fun snack ideas, and you’ll be glad to know they’re eating something good for them.
fun snack ideas for kids1
1. Peach Petal Salad
Sweet and juicy, peaches are a fresh fruit favorite. Your child can put a spoonful of cottage cheese onto a plate while you cut a peach into slices. Then together, you and your young helper can arrange the slices into “petals.” Try putting some berries in the middle for the center of the flower. Delicious!

Great Ideas for Fun Healthy Kids Snacks
Take a look at these healthy snack recipes for kids. Getting your kids to like healthy food is easier than you think if you can maintain an open mind, a little patience, and a lot of creativity!
We all know how picky small kids can be with food. So the idea of convincing your little one to even try healthy raw food snacks may seem completely unrealistic. However, they will actually enjoy these healthy snack recipes for kids so much they will beg you for more!
fun snack ideas for kids2
One of the biggest gifts that a parent can offer their child is healthy, nutritious food served with love. By getting kids to adopt healthy eating habits when they are young, they stand a much better chance of continuing on with healthy eating for the rest of their life.
The problem is that most parents never give their kids a chance to learn to love nutritious food. They discount the notion before they even try. They think, “Of course my kid would never eat something like that, so why should I bother making it?” Never assume that your kids won’t like something! You may be surprised!
It is important to keep a relaxed attitude around food. For example, if you make a dramatic production about how healthy something is for kids and that they should eat it, they may be suspicious. If a child sees you nonchalantly snacking on something, and you offer them a bite without saying anything, they may very well take your lead and simply accept it.
Healthy Kids Lunch Recipes & Tips

Easy, packable solutions for lunchboxes.
Give kids the energy they need to make it through the day with a healthy lunch. Studies have shown that if you equip your children with healthy food to eat at school, they will be better prepared to study and learn. Although there are lots of convenience products available to make packing your kid’s lunchbox a snap, those products are often loaded with saturated fat, calories and sodium. Our collection of kid-friendly ideas take little time to prepare and will help keep lunches enjoyable and healthy. Fruits and vegetables add color and crunch while providing beneficial vitamins and minerals. Foods like wraps, smoothies and dips are fun to eat. Give your kids something to look forward to at lunch every day with a variety of options they won’t trade away!
