Creating A Baby Shower Gift Basket

Posted by admin on Monday Jun 6, 2011 Under kids cartoons

You’ve maxed out your credit card spending for the food and decorations for your baby shower, leaving you with a very tight budget for shopping for baby shower gift baskets. Have no fear, though, because there are still ways for you to create affordable gifts your guests will be happy to take home.
Handmade Crafts
They can range from knitted mobile phone cases to cross stitch works and hand-painted ceramics. Most of these will require materials you can readily find at home. The greatest cost it will require from you is a portion of your time and effort, but surely that’s better than having to further dent your pockets?
Homemade Delicacies
If you’re not good at crafts then maybe your talents lie in the kitchen? Baking artfully cut and designed cookies and other delicacies are another excellent idea to make up your baby shower gift basket.
If you choose to please your guests through their stomachs, make sure of course, that you stick in line with your baby shower theme. Cookies can be shaped like rattles while brownies can be placed in colorful handcrafted carriages. Make sure they’re packaged properly so that they won’t end up spoiling before your guests even reach their homes.
Trinkets
Visit thrift shops and other small stores that specialize in selling accessories and trinkets. You’ll usually enjoy discounts by buying them in bulks. Choose items that you think would make a great addition to your baby shower gift basket. Consider buying at least four or five types of items. When you get home, take one of each then bundle them all together in your baby shower gift basket.
The important idea to remember here is that more is better. Rather than give away one expensive item, settle instead for several less expensive items. One item, no matter how expensive, won’t fill up a baby shower gift basket.
Confetti And Decor
Use crushed flowers, confetti, and colorful strips of paper as filling in your baby shower gift basket. These not only add to the visual appeal of your guests take-home gifts but they also make the gift basket seem fuller than it really is.
Handwritten Messages
Rather than spend more money on printing out cards for your baby shower gift baskets, summon your skills in art and writing to design your own cards and personalize your message for each guest. All this will add up to a thoughtful gesture that your guests are sure to appreciate.
5 Tips For Creating Affordable Baby Gift Baskets
Choosing a baby gift should be fun. Everyone wants to give a baby gift that is unique and affordable. By grouping together items you can create a unique baby gift basket that won’t break the bank.
The first thing to do is to set your budget. Some smart shopping will ensure that you won’t go over budget and still have enough items to fill your baby basket.
Next, select a theme. Your theme can be as simple as color or animals or as elaborate as bath time. Don’t leave out overlooked items, such as baby safety, or baby health. This is especially true for first time parents. They will need these important items for baby.
Be creative with your baby basket filler. Instead of using clean crumpled newsprint fill the basket with baby diapers. If the prepackaged diapers won’t fit into your basket, line the basket with a clear, clean trash bag, then your diapers. It will be a practical and welcome surprise for mom to be!
Find practical containers. Sure, mom will need some storage baskets, but she’ll also need a diaper bag. Why not fill a diaper bag with diapers? You can set other items on top of the diapers for display.
Finally, wrap your baby gift basket in some tulle or cello wrap. Adorn your gift basket with some curling ribbon or some more tulle and artificial flowers. Attach a card and give your baby gift basket knowing you put lots of thought and love into it without breaking your budget.

Kids cartoons from the 80’s to 90’s

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 31, 2011 Under kids cartoons

Remember when your parents used to tell that your childhood are the best days of your life?

First of all, why did they do that? Were they just jealous? What did they think you would do with that information? What are you supposed to say to that?

Secondly, as much as it hurts to admit it, they were right.

Sure, being an adult has its advantages, right? You couldn’t drive a car, get drunk (legally) or have sex (again legally) when you were a kid.

Relive your memories by watching and listening to these snippets of 80s cartoons theme songs and opening credits of popular cartoons. There are also some 80s cartoon episodes to watch. More 80’s cartoons will be added a little at a time.

The series was dubbed into English and edited, rewriting the scripts with reduced violence and the removal of Japanese cultural and location references. The series was an immediate hit in the United States, topping the syndication market for children’s programs in the mid-1980s. Voltron: The Third Dimension, a sequel to the original series, was made in the 1990s using computer generated imagery (CGI) techniques.

Kids cartoons from the 90s UK

Posted by admin on Thursday Mar 31, 2011 Under kids cartoons

Do you ever think back to your childhood? About what the simple things in your life were back then. Well you may do sometimes, and it wasn’t until the other day while watching a kids cartoon on TV with your younger sister or brother that you realized how genuine and likable the cartoons were when you were a kid watched was the best.

The 90’s were a golden age of cartoons. We had a blast putting together the 20 best, and we’re sure this list will inspire some discussion were still eligible.

Kids cartoons from the 90s UK

1. Darkwing Duck

Production Period: 1991-1995

This Disney smash followed Drake Ballard and his alter-ego, Darkwing Duck. Darkwing and his adopted daughter, Gosalyn Mallard resided in the town of St. Canard and used their powers to perform good acts all over their town. Darkwing Duck was a spin off of the Disney Series Duck Tales.

2. Animaniacs

Production Period: 1993-1998

Animaniacs was presented by Steven Spielberg and was the second highest rated cartoon in the 2–11 and children ages 6–11 demographics. The storyline followed The Warners, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, three cartoon stars from the 1930s that were locked away in the Warner Bros. water tower until the 1990s. Upon their escape, they often interacted with some of the human characters working at the studio. The Animanics took home several awards, including multiple Daytime Emmy Awards. It also comes in at #17 on the All-Time Best Cartoon Lists.

3. King of the Hill

Production Period: 1997-2009

King of the Hill follows the Hills, a Methodist family from Texas, and their mundane, everyday sort of life. Since it’s creation in 97, King of the Hill has been nominated for 7 Emmy’s with 2 wins, and was even named one of Time Magazines Top 100 Television shows of all times. ‘Hill’ was recently canceled to make way for ‘The Cleveland Show’ (a Family Guy spin off), but the show finishes as one of the longest running prime time animated shows of all time.

4. Ren and Stimpy

Production Period: 1991-1996, later 2003

This series follows the duo of the neurotic asthma hound Chihuahua Ren, and simple minded Manx cat Stimpy as they get caught in nonsensical adventures. The show’s violence and scatological humor, along with slow production times, led original creator John Kricfalusi to be fired in 1992. Games Animation took over in 1993 with a “lighter, gut funny type of show” instead of “truly frightening” episodes. In 2003 Kricfalusi re-launched the series as Rend and Stimpy “Adult Party Cartoon” on Spike-TV. This new version explored more adult themes, including a more explicitly homosexual relationship between the two main characters, and produced only 3 of 9 promised episodes before being removed.

5. X-Men

Production Period: 1992-1997

Staring the original early 90’s comic cast drawn my Jim Lee, the cartoons follows the same story line as the comics. Along with loosely reproducing famous story lines and plots of the original series, it also created episodes that dealt openly with mature social issues, though mostly in subtext. This is one of the longest lasting shows on Fox Kids running 5 seasons and 76 episodes, second only to Batman, and is also one of Americas most viewed and highest rated morning programs in history.

6. Rocko’s Modern Life

Production Period: 1993-1996

Following the wallaby Rocko, and his surreal life in the city of O-Town, the cartoon was laced with double entendres, sexual innuendo, and written by a guy who had little to no experience with cartoons or kids. The shows success mostly came from the fact that it was aimed at kids and their parents, and every story was “funny” and “strong”. The animation was very unique, with no parallel lines, hand painted backgrounds, odd colors, and oddly shaped anthropomorphic animal characters. The original writer and creator Joe Murray could no longer continue the constant work and handed the show off to someone else after the 3rd season, but still reviewed every episode.

7. The Tick

Production Period: 1994-1996

The Tick is one of the animated series that didn’t run for very long, but reached cult status quickly. The Tick focused on a super hero who was well known for his “Spooooooon!” battle cry and his skin-tight blue suit. This satirical take on the super hero craze is considered one of the best animated series of all time, even though it only ran for 36 episodes.

Batman and Robin comics online

Posted by admin on Tuesday Dec 14, 2010 Under kids cartoons

http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/

Batman has been around for 70 years. It’s almost impossible to tell a story with the character that hasn’t been done in some way, shape, or form already. That’s precisely why Grant Morrison’s run on Batman has been such a breath of fresh air over the past few years. Morrison is a writer who always brings something new to the table, regardless of the project.

By the same token, Morrison tends to attract a sizable chunk of detractors who disapprove of his storytelling methods. So it was, and so it ever will be.

With Batman and Robin, Morrison continues to mine the Batman mythos for unexplored nuggets. It’s not enough that this series is the first to showcase the new Dynamic Duo of Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne. Morrison is pulling from a variety of strange and unusual sources this time, including the much loved and reviled ’60s show. Beyond nostalgia, I’m no real fan of the Adam West Batman, but this didn’t worry me. I’ve learned to place my faith in Morrison by now. The only aspect of this new project that worried me involved something the writer himself said in a recent interview.

He admitted that he was making a conscious attempt to make this new Bat book more accessible to new readers. It’s a noble goal considering there are probably going to be a healthy number of newcomers with this issue. All the same, that sounds a little too much like self-censorship to me. And when it comes to Morrison, self-censorship is like a four-letter word.

wonderful world

Posted by admin on Thursday Jul 1, 2010 Under General knowledge, kids cartoons

“What a Wonderful World” was used ironically in 1978 radio broadcast of the last episode of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (first series). The song replaced the usual end credits as the two main characters, stranded on pre-history Earth, lament its destruction witnessed in the first episode. The song was later used for the closing titles of the corresponding television episode, and in the first teaser for the Hitchhiker’s film, lasting only one stanza before the Earth explodes.

A part of the song was used in The Runner (Davandeh), a famous Iranian movie. It was included in the soundtrack for the film Good Morning, Vietnam in 1987, and, thanks to its newfound exposure in the film, it landed at #1 in Australia, becoming Armstrong’s biggest hit there. In the film, the song plays over a montage of bombings and other violence (similar to the use of the song “We’ll Meet Again” in the film Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb). This use of the song in an ironic way has since become something of a cliché in film and television. Its use in Good Morning, Vietnam led to its eventual use in yet another Vietnam War themed fiction, Tour of Duty.

Tom and jerry

Posted by admin on Thursday Jul 1, 2010 Under kids cartoons

The word cartoon has various meanings, based on several very different forms of visual art and illustration. The artists who draw cartoons are known as cartoonists.

The term has evolved over time. The original meaning was in fine art, where cartoon meant a preparatory drawing for a piece of art, such as a painting or tapestry. The modern meaning refers to both humorous illustrations in print and animated films. Even more recently, there are several contemporary meanings, including creative visual work for electronic media and animated digital media. When the word cartoon is applied to print media, it most often refers to a humorous single-panel drawing or gag cartoon, most of which have typeset captions rather than speech balloons. The word cartoon is sometimes used to refer to a comic strip,[1] and it can also refer to a humorous illustration for fiction or nonfiction published in newspapers and
