Summer is here so let the games begin! During this extended break from school many kids find themselves with a lot free time. Instead of spending a lot of time inside in front of the TV or the video game machine, try having some exciting outdoor fun with friends. Once you put down the new Harry Potter book (or any other book that you are reading) try having some fun the old fashioned way – outside in the sunshine with friends.
Pickle
2 bases (this can be anything but they should be fairly small)
1 softball and 2 softball gloves (or a light weight and easy to catch ball)
A group of at least three friends
Set up the two bases in a straight line about 15-20 feet apart.
Two people are selected as “it” and must go to each of the bases.
The other players must form two even groups and start at separate bases.
The game begins by the two “it” people throwing the ball back and forth.
The object is for the players to run back and forth between the bases without being tagged by the “it” person while he/she has the ball.
If a person is tagged by an “it” person while they are not on the base-he/she is a new “it” person.

1. Play Water Limbo
How low can you go? Put on your swimsuits and turn on the garden hose. Have one player hold the nozzle while the others limbo under the stream. The last dry player wins!
2. Blow Bubbles
But not just any bubbles. Trish Kuffner, author of The Arts & Crafts Busy Book, offers a new twist on this old favorite: Poke a pencil hole in the side of a paper cup, then stick a drinking straw through the hole until it’s halfway inside the cup. Fill the cup with enough dishwashing detergent to cover the straw, then add a little water and a drop or two of food color. Voilà!—a bubble pipe. Now blow gently through the straw to create beautiful colored bubbles. See who can make the biggest one.
3. Put on a Play
Kids can create masks out of paper grocery bags, cutting holes for the eyes and mouth. Then add hair, funny noses and crazy eyebrows using paint and everyday items like yarn, string, rubber bands and buttons, says Kim Kotecki, coauthor of The Escape Plan: A 40- Day Plan to Annihilate the Adultitis in Your Life. Once your kids don the masks, they’ll come up with all kinds of characters, dialogue and plots to entertain themselves for hours.
4. Paint an Outdoor Canvas
Help kids get the big picture, literally, by hanging an old sheet on a clothesline or taping a large piece of butcher paper on a fence for your little artists to use as a canvas. Give them large store-bought brushes and also encourage them to use whatever they find outdoors—dip grass, leaves and twigs in the paint to make interesting prints, swishes and swirls.

Tell Three Things
Each person writes down three things about himself: two of which are true and one of which is a lie. After everyone has finished making this or her list, students take turns reading their lists aloud and asking other students to guess which one is the “lie”. Students can answer either individually or in a “raise your hand if you agree” format. Students can also be asked to justify their guesses if time allows. Whether groups are just getting to know one another or have been together a long time, they can still learn things about each other from this activity.

If you are a first time mom, it is common and helpful to have a baby shower. Here are some rules:
If no one throws you a baby shower, don’t get offended. You and your mom or friend can plan one together. Ask if they’d like to help plan and then add them to the “Host/Hostess” slot on the baby shower.
Don’t add your registries on the baby shower invitation. This makes people feel obligated to buy you something. Instead, when someone calls to RSVP, you can mention your registries if they ask what you need, but be sure to tell them they aren’t obligated to bring a gift.
It is typical to throw a baby shower one to two months before your expected due date. This allows for time for the mommy-to-be to return the items that are duplicates and organize the nursery from everything she was given.
Although many things have changed, in general men were not invited to baby showers except for the husband/partner toward the end to help open presents. Now, co-ed baby showers are starting to become more common. If you’re looking for a traditional baby shower, only invite your girl friends and family.

One of the recently popular games played at baby showers is a modified version of bingo. If you’re looking for additional entertainment for your party, baby shower bingo could definitely bring harmless delight to your guests!
How To Play Baby Shower Bingo
There are two ways to play baby shower bingo.
The first version would require you to give your guests a blank bingo card. The number of squares will depend greatly on how many guests you’ve invited to your baby shower. You should still stick with columns B to O but you don’t have to provide five blank boxes for every column. Of course, don’t forget to label the center box FREE.
Now, ask your guests to label each box with items they believe you’ll receive as gifts. For greater fun, you can ask them to draw the items instead. You may or may not allow your guests to use the same label for more than one box. When it’s time to open your gifts, ask your guests to cross out the boxes that correspond with each gift item you receive. What the winning pattern would be is all up to you. It can be a plain horizontal, diagonal, or vertical line. It may also be the first guest to cross out the corner boxes, get a black out (having all boxes crossed out), or the first one to get five boxes right, regardless of the pattern.
The second version can be played by any number of guests and follow the same rules of the original. This time, however, you’ll be handing them printed bingo cards. The items listed in the boxes are items that moms-to-be are most likely to receive during baby showers.
You have two options on how to proceed with the game. You could write down the same items on separate pieces of paper, place them inside any non-transparent container, and draw out pieces of paper from it one by one until your guests form the winning pattern. Likewise, it’s up to you to determine what the winning pattern would be.
On the other hand, you can also base it on the gifts you have received. Guests tick out boxes in their bingo cards that correspond with the gifts you’ve opened up.
Designing Baby Shower Bingo Cards
The Internet is filled with numerous bingo shower card designs which you can download for free. Of course, you can also design your own bingo cards. Just make sure they match the overall color and design theme of your party.
How to create your own baby shower bingo:
Before the shower you will need to print of blank baby shower bingo game card. Print one copy for each guest. You can print oncard stock(available at office stores) or use regular computer paper or even colored computer sheets.
You can fill in the spaces with baby related words or action such as crawling, baby stroller, changing the diaper and so on with colored pens or marker. Fill in the boxes on all the cards with different words each time Or if you prefer then you could hand out the game cards to guests and tell them to fill in words on their card.If you choose to have guests fill in their card then you will need to prepare two master lists of words, Make sure the master lists has more than 25 words. Use the other copy of the master list to cut out each word and then place them in a diaper bag(hat or a bowl) to draw out of during the game. You can use M&Ms, hershey’s kisses or little plastic babies as game pieces, however you will need about 20 of these so if it proves to be too expensive, then just give guests colored pens or markers to mark off words.
Instructions On How To Play Baby Shower Bingo
Give each guest a bingo card or if you have a couples baby shower then couples can share a card. If you have not already filled in the card.Tell guests to fill in baby related words into the spaces on the bingo card or give them a master list and tell them to fill in the words in any order on their card. The host then calls out words from her master list or pick words from a hat one at a time. If a guest hears a word that is on his/her card then he/she will mark that off with a marker or with game pieces. The player that gets all the words in a line either horizontally, vertically or diagonally, shouts out “BINGO!” and wins a prize. The host will continue calling out words until all the words are gone, make sure to have a few prizes because there might be multiple winners.
